Pink+Baking=Pretty Tree!

Okay forgive me, this has nothing to do with parties and I had nothing to do with creating it BUT I just have to share!  I was dying when I saw this tree at Macy's first in Fresno and then in Dallas.  I mean not just a "oh that's cute" but a "EEE I am in love!" kind of dying.  I had my husband with me in Fresno and the store was closing and I knew we would be in Macy's in Roseville so I didn't linger.  

I scoured the Macy's in Roseville, no pink and white baking themed tree{and no baking themed ornaments}.  We stopped in Portland on our drive home and I checked Macy's there.  Again, no baking tree or ornaments.  Bellingham, no tree.  I went to three Macy's in Dallas the next weekend.  None of the stores had the tree.  The fourth Macy's DID have it!  Here she is below.  SO pretty!  

My husband was with me so my moments with the tree were few but I grabbed an ornament and a few pictures.  I am really regretting that I only bought one amazingly cute ornament.  

If you see this tree in your local Macy's, please be thankful and take advantage of the privilege because let me tell you, not many have it.  Actually the two malls I found it at were well...not the big fancy malls/Macy's?!?!?

Hello Macy's...what were you thinking??? 

Why does every store have a tree dedicated to fishing yet you reserved this baking tree for a select few?

Wizard Of Oz Cuteness

Okay friends, I am seriously dying here.  I love this party theme and the execution, while possibly a little unattainable in reality, is so incredibly gorgeous!!  I could stare at these photos for hours.  So many pretty details so well thought out and put together.

Of course, anytime you combine Tomkat studio and pair that talent with Kate Landers Events, you are bound to get something fabulous!

A Vintage Tea Party

Last weekend I threw my daughter a vintage tea party.  It was a cute theme for this age, the girls loved dressing up and were very calm and civilized at the table.

 Cute tea party food

 Yummy treats including tea pot sugar cookies made to match the china.  Speaking of the china, it's Royal Albert Old Country Roses.  My grandma gave it to me for our wedding and at the time I was not a fan of the pattern.  I even thought about selling it at a garage sale a few years later!  Having 4 girls, I am so thankful that I kept it, made my husband "be careful" through 9 moves, and can now use it for special tea parties!  The girls love it and it is very delicate and pretty.

 When Mailee (the birthday girl) saw these silicone tea cup baking cups at Fireworks in Seattle, the theme of her party was decided.  I ended up baking chocolate banana bread in them instead of cupcakes because I was also making a cake.

 Mailee came up with the idea of making the name tags at each setting a little tea bag.  I forgot to get vellum so I ended up making them the morning of the party out of parchment paper.  The names didn't show up as nicely as I had hoped but the kids loved them so that was great.

 The cookies get a close up.  I put them in plastic bags and stapled a doily on top for the favors.

It turned out so simple and sweet.

 Mikayla (10year old daughter) sewed 30 of these crepe paper streamers.  It was a ton of work but it made a fantastic backdrop for a little photo shoot! {you can see those photos by clicking HERE}

 We hung white lacy lanterns and a few poms above the streamer wall.

 The party craft was making vintage hats.  The girls got into this and they all turned out so cute!  I was disappointed that the french netting that I ordered off Etsy didn't come in time despite the extra I paid for shipping but tulle ended up being a fine substitution.

 So pretty!

It has been so long since I have posted here.  Thank you for not giving up on me.  My creative endeavours are fewer and farer{is that a word?} between and perhaps a bit simpler than in the past but I still love the parties and enjoy having a place to share this part of me.

Bright Colored Favors

I have been fully immersed in homeschooling my kiddos for the first year.  I have abandoned the blogs, abandoned my hairbow business, I have a huge list of emails I need to respond to as well but my kids are happy and learning and I am soaking up these days with them!

Although I have not had time for much in the past month, I did manage to sneek in a little crativity so I thought I'd better share it!

A few weeks ago I lent a friend the party decorations from Cait's Firts Birthday.  I offered to bring favors as well.  The them was "For the Love of Chocolate" so naturally I went with a chocolate treat for the favor.  I bought chocolate filled Oreos, dunked them in melted chocolate, gave them some sprinkles and let them harden.  They were simple, cute and delicious.  I put them in plain little zip bags and added fun colored fold overs at the top.  I stapled the folded papers in place and accented them with fun colored ribbons.  So easy!!

I love all these colors together.  They are MY colors!  All my kids' clothes are these colors, their bedrooms are these colors, I just seem to gravitate toward them.  THey make me happy!

stella & dot party and one final plea...

Last night I hosted a Stella & Dot party.  Lots of my favourite people came and the treats were delish.  Those two things alone make for a great night as far as I am concerned but then you add the gorgeous jewellery to the equation and oh my!

Look at this stuff!  It is so beautiful, so classy and really timeless.  I pretty much want everything but I am a realistic kind of girl so I just set my sights on a goal for some "free stuff" and did my best to invite everyone I knew.

Alas, I did not reach the goal.  Here comes the shameless plea...

Okay, back to the party...

I was super excited to have the last minute idea to put caprese salad in cupcake papers.  I love garden fresh heirloom tomatoes, basil, bocconcini cheese drizzled with olive oil and vinegar.  My favorite summer time appetizer.  I was going "plate free" for this party so the cupcake papers worked perfectly!

Bakerella inspired these treats.  I wasn't sure  if they would taste as good as she made them look {once you see the ingredients you will understand why} but they were a huge hit.  So delicious and I will be making them again very soon!

Speaking of Bakerella, this is my go-to adaptation on her amazing cake balls.  Aren't they cute?  They look like little bon bons!  

French Garden Party

I am excited to share this cute party with you.  I am also proud because the creator of this party is my cute and talented second cousin Meadow! She is one cultured young lady and has a love of all things french.  She's even a high school french teacher.  Enjoy these lovely photos and great ideas...
